Fostering rescued dogs and puppies is a truly fulfilling experience! Many thousands of dogs each year are abandoned or surrendered to rural “pounds” or shelters. These dogs are frightened and bewildered to find themselves suddenly removed from the family they have come to love and left in a strange place. Most often they are left by their owners through no fault of their own.
As a foster, you will be giving a second chance to dogs and puppies who have no one to advocate for them except loving people like you! These dogs are saved from high kill shelters with limited resources who are unable to care for the number of animals that are left at their doors. There is such great satisfaction in knowing that you are saving lives!
If you have ever considered becoming a foster to a dog or pup, the time is now! You don’t need to be a dog expert. You don’t have to be rich. You don’t have to have tons of free time. You just have to be a loving, kind person who can offer a safe and loving home to a homeless dog or puppy until they find their forever home.
The time commitment varies from a few days to several weeks. We will work with you to find the right foster pet, and we are available to answer any questions and offer support. LLDR covers all approved veterinary expenses and any equipment you may need such as crates or puppy pens. Even if you can only foster occasionally, you are still helping us save dogs and puppies from dying alone and frightened in high kill shelters.
Fostering is also a great way to help abandoned dogs and puppies and to learn more about different types of dogs. If you think fostering sounds like something you would like to do, please contact us. We will help you decide what age, size and type of dog will work with your situation!
